Our 8 week course finishes with a 5k run at our local parkrun which is Fareham. You are advised to park at Lysses car park and there is a charge to park on a Saturday so it is advisable to take some money with you, this is the postcode PO16 7BE. I hope I’ve answered any questions that you may have about parkrun but please feel free to message me if you have any questions.
Parkrun starts at Cams Mill pub which is just a short walk from Lysses car park. We meet in the car park from 8.30am.
There will be a "first time parkrunners" briefing at 8.50am.
Fareham parkrun is an out and back route and NOT laps so you will not be lapped by other runners or have to see the same spectator 3 times!
Once you have registered for parkrun you will be able to print off your "barcode" that is unique to you. You bring this with you on Saturday and once you have finished running you will be given a token, you take your token and your barcode to someone who is the "scanner" you hand your token in and get your barcode scanned. This will give you your time
You can leave a bag at the start of the run, there is a designated table that is provided for this, I wouldn't leave anything valuable in it.
There are toilets in the Cams Mill pub and the doors open at 8.45am for you to use
Headphones are allowed as long as you can still here the marshal's instructions
There will be a lots of RunVerity support at the parkrun with other RunVerity members who, like you have completed the beginner's course as well as RunVerity members who are more than happy to run with you should you want any company.
Parkrun is not competitive or cliquey, Fareham parkrun has been chosen by myself for it's friendly and welcoming nature.
There is always a tail walker so you won't ever be last, parkruns are run and walked by a wide variety of people with a no pressure atmosphere. RunVerity members always support one another and we always wait and cheer in the very last runner, regardless if there are a RunVerity member or not.
