RunVerity Weekend of Running

What an amazing weekend of running we all had! Representation at 4 local parkruns on Saturday and then a huge turnout for races on Sunday.  We had RV runners at Stockbridge 10k, Meon Valley Express, On the Whistle at QECP, Longleat Glow in the Dark 5km as well as a massive turnout for the 5km, 10km and half marathon at The New Forest Marathon event.

There was a real sense of achievement from everybody this weekend, so many PB's, not just knocking a minute off their time, but taking off 10 mins in a year by one RV runner.  There were runners who competed their first ever 10k, their first half marathon and the satisfaction and big cheesy grins were evident by all.

The improvement that runners are making in their running journey with RV is tangible and the sense of community is just growing.  There is nothing like a big RV cheer when you finish your run to spur you on.

Fareham Parkrun Takeover

Such a beautiful morning on Saturday 2nd September, RunVerity's 3rd birthday.  To celebrate we decided that we would do another parkrun takeover and this time it was Farehams turn.  Everyone had a role, posters had been made, plans to run to the event so that nobody missed out on their training and pacers at the ready.  We had 5 volunteers to pace runners on Saturday, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 minutes and they all did a fantastic job, within seconds of their predicted pace, they were amazing and really helped runners achieve their goals

Brilliant job, well done :)

Brilliant job, well done :)

RunVerity uses parkruns every 8 weeks once the beginner's running course has finished, it's a great distance for new runners to aim for and a challenge for experienced runners who are excited by the fast pace of a 5km.  And this is the wonderful thing about parkruns, like RunVerity, it caters for all abilities, all ages, no pressure and no dress code.  And because parkruns are always there for us every week, we thought we would give something back to our running community by taking over all the voluntary roles and supporting other runners on a Saturday morning.

What does an RV Weekend Run look like?

Emily is training for Bournemouth marathon and part of her training plan involved a 20 mile run and because there are a lot of RV runners who are training for Autumn marathons we organised a route that allowed people to join us along the way.  Emily took a selfie everytime someone joined her and this is what it looks like

A great weekend of running achievements for RunVerity members

Lots of PB's were achieved at Fareham and Lee on Solent Parkrun this Saturday and then on Sunday 12 RV members took part in the Perform 5 mile race in Hedge End, a few of us did this last year and this year runners from the June beginner's course chose this as their first ever race.  Everyone loved the route, the support and of course it was a great finish in the Hampshire Cricket ground. Those who completed it last year said the new revised route was certainly more hilly!

For those of us training for the GSR and Gosport Half marathon, we went up to Meon Valley Express Line and ran varying distances depending on our training plans.  It was a drop down week for me so only 8 miles this morning, but a great sense of achievement to the members who ran 10 miles this morning, a real confidence boost.
