Congratulations if you have learnt to run with RunVerity; we are celebrating 5 years of success this weekend! Can you spot yourself?

I had a vision of bringing “elite” coaching that was usually only available to competitive athletes to normal people who just wanted to learn how to run. Normal, everyday people who had maybe had a bad experience of sport at school and just didn’t see themselves as sporty.

Over the last 5 years I have coached over a 1’000 people to learn how to run, I started out with a group of 7 people on the first beginners course and no running sessions. Today I have 4 amazing RV Run Leaders, beginner’s courses in Gosport, Fareham and Whiteley and over 11 sessions a week.

Deliah started with me in 2015, here’s her story

My name is Deliah I started with RV as a beginner in 2015 , i joined because I needed to stick to running and I thought joining a group and paying to learn how to run would make me stick at it. I would learn the right skills , have motivation, feel supported , and achieve my goal. I needed something I could fit in around my children to keep fit and have some me time and RV gave me exactly that. My aim was to complete the beginners then run on my own but the friends you make and support you have makes you want to stay with the group; so thats what I did ! And here I am 4 years later still loving it and now a RV Run Leader and have been for the last 3 years. I support Verity teaching beginners, like myself once, to run , supporting others on group runs and taking group sessions which I love. I have gone from not being able to run to running 5K to parkrun , to 10k races , then to half marathons which I never imagined I would do ! And without Verity and the group I wouldn’t be able to ! I’ve entered marathons but not been successful getting in yet .... but one day I will , now here we are 5 years later still going strong , helping more people everyday we have gone from a group of 6-8 people to 250 plus , I’ve loved every minute of my journey and look forward to many more years .

Charlie is another RV Run Leader, here’s her story

My re-introduction to running started on the race for life start line in 2016. I’d run quite a lot in my youth, but stopped in my late teens and lost a lot of confidence by the time I decided to start running again. The race for life was a wet one, and I managed to finished it (feeling very emotional and exhausted!) but I had no clue where to go from there. 6 months later, with a few park runs under my belt I joined RunVerity. Needless to say it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. The group runs helped build my confidence back up to new levels, and I have made many new friends along the way. The organised events have always been great fun. Having the whole of team RV behind you gives you a much needed boost on race day; there’s nothing quite like finishing a tough race and seeing your team mates at the end cheering you in for the finish! One of the most important aspects for me about RunVerity has always been the team spirit and the feeling of togetherness. Suddenly I found myself running stronger, and the desire to help others grew. I made the step up to run leader within the group and I’ve never looked back. Sharing the ethos of RunVerity with others, and helping them grow confidence as I once did is immensely rewarding. I am so proud of the team I’ve managed in Fareham and cannot wait to see what the future brings.
