Running is a process, it is a journey that is determined sometimes by the choices that you make; whether or not you sign up to a beginner's running course or a race that you have seen others do and you thought "I'd like to do that" Running can be a source of great disappointment as well as a source of immense satisfaction. We are not perfect and invincible, sometimes we fail at achieving a PB or running the whole of the way, you are allowed to feel disappointed, it shows that you care and that you have invested in yourself and disappointment can be rooted in a desire to be better. We have busy lives and in RV we have busy weekends, we share our success's with each other but also our disappointments, we always train for a goal though, we don't race week in week out, we allow ourselves to enjoy running and enjoy the process.
Successful Saturday saw the April Beginner's graduation parkrun at Fareham, we had a great turnout of RV members who supported the new graduates and they all ran exceptionally well, a great performance from those who ran their first official 5k. It is hard to believe that these runners had never run before they started the RV Beginner's Running course, but they hadn't and with the right support and coaching they achieved their goal. Running is not only good for your physical health but it's also good for your mental health and as you can tell from the photos that certainly is the case for these new runners.
On Sunday we saw a great turnout for a brilliantly organised local 10k. The amount of PB's was incredible, the most that one RV member knocked off was 9 mins from their last 10k in January.
