This week saw the end of the latest RV Beginner's running course. The transformation from non-runners to runners was evident over the last 7 weeks, from not being able to run for even 1 minute to confidently running 3 miles (with a couple of walk breaks) was an achievement for all the participants.
Real people do the RV beginner's running course, people who are nervous and scared but people who really want to give it a go to see if they can run. There are highs and lows on the course, a few niggles along the way, doubt creeps in, the legs feel like lead and there is a lot of huffing and puffing as we hit the pavements. But this is part of the running journery and with the skilled coaching advice that is given, the support that is offered from fellow running mates, success is just around the corner.
This progress doesn't happen overnight, running does need consistency, time and committment for improvement to be achieved. The RV courses give you the tools to succeed, and the confidence to get out there and give it a go.
If you are curious but keep putting joining the next course off, then just say to yourself, why not? You don't have to be super fit, you can do it now, with the body you've got, don't think "oh I'll just go out on my own first" or "I'll just loose a bit of weight first" You don't need to, RV is a safe, supportive group where you will be nurtured and taught how to do it.
