Road Racing and Trail Running

There was the Santa Dash last weekend where Fiona and I (and Bailey and Fin) ran the 1 mile dash.  It was a very well organised and fun event, Bailey looked so good in his costume and attracted quite a few fans who took lots of photos.  4 other RV members ran the 5k and 10k distances, all dressed up as Santas!

Then it was a quick dash over to Victory 5 road race which is a fast flat race held in Portsmouth. There were 3 RV runners who all achieved PB's in this race, Graham ran an amazing race with a finishing time of 32.33, Alan's new 5 mile PB of 59.03 shows how much his interval training has paid off, we can't wait to see his next 10k time and Vicki was thrilled with her time of 1:03.

Lots of runners at local parkruns this weekend and a taster of trail running at Queen Elizabeth Country Park over near Petersfield.  The weather was quite bad but that didn't put us off, one group ran the Gravel Hill 5 route, which was extremely wet and muddy, whilst another group ran out from the park along the South Downs route.  Once you got up on those hills the weather was quite unkind with a sharp icey wind and rain.  We enjoyed the views and the hills though, it was a great introduction to off road running and one that RV runners will be doing again I'm sure
