We've been talking to some of our RunVerity members who have previously completed the RV Beginners course to see how they've been getting on. See what they had to say!
What made you decide to do the RunVerity Beginner's course
I was the proverbial couch potato, I was never a runner, the last time I ran was at school on Sports Day back in 1976, with maybe a more recent attempt during a Race for Life many moons ago which nearly killed me! But I had heard about RunVerity's Beginners course and thought I would give it a go.
How has a coached group improved your running?
I didn't think being coached on how to run would work, but it does. It's not quite as simple as merely going outside and giving it a whirl. Being taught the correct technique which is effective, especially when going up a hill is so important. When I am running I hear, "shoulders back and down" and "use your arms" in my head and it does make a difference.
WHAT HAVE YOU ACHIEVED SINCE LEARNING TO RUN?
I have now completed several parkruns and my time is coming down and I am getting better and better.
what advice would you give to someone who was thinking of taking up running?
If I can take up running at the age of 57 and actually feel like I am achieving something then anyone can. Just go for it!
