One of the busiest running weekends of the year

This weekend has been one of the busiest and most successful running weekends of the year to date for RV members.  Beginner's Graduation Parkrun, London Marathon, Southampton half marathon and 10k and St Georges Day 5km.

It started early on Saturday morning with the latest RV Beginner's Running Course graduation parkruns at Lee on the Solent.  Over 50 RV members turned out to help, support and encourage the latest graduates who have just completed the bespoke Coach to 5k programme.  We had 18 graduates who all successfully completed the parkrun and we celebrated we tea and cake afterwards.

Sunday was the busiest day of the weekend with the world famous London Marathon now in it's 36th year. RunVerity had 2 members running for charity in this event, Graham Hoskins completed the 26.2mile race in a time of 3:27:51.  and Becky Vass who completed it in 4:58:15.  We are all very proud of both RV runners, a great achievement.

Sunday also saw the first Southampton marathon taking place and the Guildhall was buzzing with runners. RV members opted for the half marathon and 10k races and all runs were a huge success.  For 3 RV runners, the 10k was their first ever 10k race which was brilliant as the Itchen Bridge is quite steep.  We also had 4 RV runners complete the half marathon, for 2 of these runners it was their first half and again a tough one to complete.  The atomosphere was amazing, the streets were aligned with cheering supporters and the course was friendly with all the mixtures of distances completing the same route.

As it was St George's Day on Sunday, the day wouldn't be complete without a 5km race dedicated to St George himself.  4  RV members, who all met a year ago on the RV Beginner's Running Course, ran the 5km together and all finished crossing the line together.
